How does Voice Mail work? click here for the PDF (printable version)

Thank you for subscribing to Waldron Telephone Company’s Voice Mail Service.

Voice Mail Service has a recorded greeting that your callers will hear. The following directions will show you how to record your own personal greeting. Also, the Password is initially set to 0000 (four zeros), and you should change this to a different number by following the directions below.

The following easy steps will walk you through the basic set up process.

Step 1: Checking New Messages
  • When you lift the receiver on your phone and hear a stutter dial tone, this means that you have a voice message.
  • Have your User Guide handy to follow along on the following steps.

Step 2: Listening to Your Messages From Home
  • Dial the number to access the Voice Mail System (Shown Above)
  • If you have Auto Login (see above) and are calling from your home phone, skip to Step 4
  • Follow the prompt and enter your Mailbox ID Number (Shown Above)
  • Follow the prompt and enter your Password (Shown Above), followed by the # key

Step 3: Listening to Your Messages From Elsewhere
You can access your Voice Mail from any touch-tone phone. There are two ways to access your Voice Mail if you are calling from home:
  1. Dial your home phone number (area code first if long distance). When the greeting begins, press the * (star) key. When prompted, enter your Password and the # key, OR
  2. Dial the Voice Mail Access Number. Dial your home phone number with area code, then enter your Password and the # key
  3. After hitting the # key in both A. and B., go to Step 4

Step 4: You Are at the Main Menu
  • Press 1 to retrieve your messages
  • Press 1 again to listen to the new message
  • After you have listened to the message a voice prompt will ask you to:
    • Press 1- To listen to message (to listen to the message again)
    • Press 2- To save the message and go to next message
    • Press 3- To delete and go to next message
    • ...and so on
    • Choose which option you want to perform
  • Now, press the * key to return to the Main Menu and go to the next step

Step 5: Recording Your Personal Greeting
  • At the Main Menu press the 9 key
  • Press 1 for Greeting Options
  • Press 4 to Record a Greeting
  • At the tone, record your greeting. When you are finished press the # key
  • The prompt will then ask you if you want to:
    • Press 1 to listen to your greeting (a good idea to see how it sounds)
    • If you wish, press the 4 key and record your greeting again, followed by the # key again.
    • Repeat these steps until your greeting is acceptable.
    • Then press the 2 key to save this greeting
  • Press the * key to return to the Mailbox Setup Menu and go to the next step

Step 6: Changing your Password
  • At the Mailbox Setup Menu, Press 2 to change your Password
  • The prompt asks you to enter your new 4-digit Password followed by the # key (make sure to choose a number you will remember)
  • Re-Enter your password followed by the # key
  • Then simply hang up
  • Write your new Password down on top of front page

You have now personalized your Greeting and Password. These can be changed at any time.

You should have a general understanding of how to use your new Voice Mail. If you wish to practice, just call your own telephone number and leave a message. When you pick up the phone again, you will hear the stutter dial and then you can listen to the message by following the steps.
